Description

Light, Photonics and Fun

Taught by the team at Women in Photonics

Led by professionals in the field of Photonics, you will learn about light, optics and photonics through hands-on activities and experiments.

Learn about how light travels through optical fiber. Figure out how to break apart white light into colored light and how to put it back together. Play with lenses, mirrors, filters, flashlights and LEDs. From graduate students to ladies who have spent many years harnessing the power of light to communicate and do other useful things, this team of female engineers will guide you through an illuminating journey.

Make-HER workshops are open to girls aged 8 - 12 and their mothers (or other adult female mentors). Our #LadyMaker educators have designed content specifically for this age group. Therefore the workshops are not appropriate for those under age eight, please no younger siblings. You may cancel up to 48 hours in advance through this site. Those who do not show without cancellation will be prevented from registering for subsequent Make-HER workshops. Each workshop requires a separate registration. Each registration reserves spots for both you and your daughter.
